Little is known about its origins – it probably comes from the Provence region in the south of France, and might have got its name from the religious position “sacristain” – the man whose job was to look after a church, ring the bells, etc. and who was said to wield a twisted kind of stick. But no matter where it comes from, you will love its crunch.

♥ Traditionally served on the breakfast table alongside croissants and pains au chocolat. Also makes a lovely cheeky afternoon snack!
